Climate Initiatives

On December 3, 2019, the LAUSD Board of Education signed a resolution committing to transition to 100 percent clean, renewable electricity by 2030, and all other energy usages, including boilers, HVAC, and transportation, by 2040.

The District has long recognized the crucial need to address global climate change and has undertaken several initiatives both to reduce the District's carbon footprint and to educate students regarding the need to do so.

Current LAUSD Goals

  • Reduce the District's carbon footprint
  • Increase awareness of air quality, carbon emissions, and global climate change
