District Sustainable School LiaisonsThe District is looking for enthusiastic teachers and administrators to act as Sustainable School Liaisons, who will act as sustainability "pollinators" to help engage schools by communicating information about sustainability programs from SIU to students and staff members at school sites. Sustainable School Liaisons play a crucial role in our efforts to raise District-wide awareness of the importance of environmental stewardship.

Green Ribbon Schools
Is your school a Green Ribbon School?
Launched in 2011, the Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Schools program aims to encourage schools to “go green.” Green Ribbon School awards recognize public and private schools of all age levels that demonstrate dramatic gains in both environmental literacy and reducing their carbon footprint while improving learning conditions.
Dorsey Senior High School was recognized as a Green Ribbon School by the California Department of Education (CDE) and the U.S. Department of Education in 2014. Earth Day Network assisted in the application process and prepared a case study.
The CDE application is published in September and due at the end of December each year. Interested schools must fill out an interest survey in order to move forward with their applications. The application is detailed, so build a team and start early! The District has prepared many of the responses regarding District policies. Please contact us for assistance.
