High Performance Schools Goals:

  • Ensure a safe, healthy, and comfortable learning environment in energy and water efficient schools working with Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

9 CHPS Recognized in 2019/20

136 CHPS Recognized Projects and 7 LEED Certified Projects

Campus Ecology Goals:

  • Increase campus green space, school gardens, and outdoor learning spaces
  • Connect green spaces to STEAM learning
  • Increase permeable surfaces to encourage storm water infiltration
  • ​Reduce heat island effect

27 SEEDS gardens completed in 2019/20

Over 400 School Gardens including 10 Nature Explore and 56 SEEDS gardens

  • Work with industry leaders, innovators, utilities and municipal partners to identify and pilot emerging sustainability technologies

14 emerging technology pilot projects in energy and water efficiency in progress 

Completed 24 pilot projects of energy and  water efficiency, and campus ecology

  • Develop partnerships to provide experiential, place-based learning, and link sustainability with curriculum and workforce development
